What is BIMI?
BIMI, or Brand Indicators for Message Identification, is a new standard that is designed to allow a brand to specify which logo should appear as part of an email’s avatar. BIMI is dependent on a number of existing email authentication technologies to properly work, to ensure a high level of confidence that the message has been sent by the brand. Thus authentication alignment, SPF and DKIM, and DMARC at enforcement is required. This means a DMARC policy of p=quarantine or p=reject is required.
What is an SVG and why do I need one?
BIMI requires a specific type of SVG (Scalable Vector Graphic) in based on the Tiny-PS standard. This limits many security concerns about the images being used as a tracking pixel or deploying malware as the image is reduced to a very simple version of the full SVG standard.

You should keep a solid background for your logo so it looks good in both Light and Dark mode.
