The Canadian Press is reporting that Industry Minister Tony Clement has put the Electronic Commerce Protect Act Fighting Internet and Wireless Spam Act (FISA) – Note the new name of the Act – back on the table in Parliament and that if all goes well the legislation could be in force by the end of the year.
The bill was reintroduced with an updated name, but the text is expected to remain the same as the previously approved ECPA version from December 2009.
Tomorrow the text should be made available and a new bill number assigned to FISA.
Further information about FISA, including the related news release, summary, backgrounder, and questions and answers are available at the Industry Canada website. The bill will be available soon, likely tomorrow, on the Parliament of Canada web site.
