Canada.com ran this story this morning, “Tories to crack down on spam“, hinting that an Anti-Spam bill is about to be tabled in the Canadian parliament.
What’s the good news? The bill was drafted by Industry Canada, hopefully based on the Task Force on Spam* published recommendations ( Stopping Spam: Creating a Stronger, Safer Internet – PDF) and the Canadian Justice Department.
What’s the bad news? I still haven’t seen the paper work… as it has not been made publicly available yet – but watch for it, I’ll post a link to it along with my opinions and comments shortly after I receive a copy myself.
* Likely you don’t know this but way back I was a member of the Canadian Task Force on Spam (circa 2004-2005).
