Matthew Vernhout, CIPP/C (Founder)

Matthew Vernhout is the Principal Email Consultant at EmailKarma, where he leverages nearly two decades of experience in email marketing, deliverability, and privacy advocacy to help clients optimize their digital marketing programs. Known online as @emailkarma, Matthew has a deep understanding of ISP policies, email authentication, and global anti-spam legislation, including Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), CAN-SPAM, GDPR, and PIPEDA.

Matthew is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (Canada) (CIPP/C) and is recognized for his thought leadership in the email marketing industry, earning the 2019 Email Experience Council’s Thought Leader of the Year award. He is actively involved in various industry associations, serving as the chairperson emeritus of the ANA’s Email Experience Council, director-at-large and secretary of the Coalition Against Unsolicited Commercial Email (CAUCE), and Communications Chair for the AuthIndicators Working Group (BIMI Group).

In addition to his professional roles, Matthew is the founder of the Canadian Email Summit and co-founder of EmailDojo.io. He is also a published author and frequent speaker on topics including digital privacy, email security, and anti-spam legislation. His blog, EmailKarma.net, was recognized as one of Canada’s top 40 marketing blogs in 2010, further cementing his influence and expertise in the field.
